Cyber Security for
Industrial Control Systems
Deploying an OT network to support the availability and cyber security needed for industrial applications presents unique challenges.
Critical infrastructure has become a target of cyberattacks as they increasingly connect with other internal and external networks.
The interconnection of the enterprise and production networks to leverage ERP systems and integrating the process control networks with web-based technologies and external cloud platforms have increased the need for security in the Industrial Automation Control System environment (IACS). These cross connections make the critical systems of the process control network open to the exploitation from cyberattack, which can lead to system shut down and even affect the critical safety systems.
Consequently, cyber security for these OT environments should be a key component of any Enterprise Cyber Security framework that must be addressed by OT experts with extensive knowledge of critical infrastructure and control system environments.
